Exhibit: Fantastic Heroes, Fantastic Journeys: An Exhibition of Student Mini Comics In-Person

Great stories often revolve around an unlikely hero who takes an impossible journey and is transformed along the way. What if each one of us is actually a hero waiting to be transformed? What if the universe is made up of an infinite number of stories waiting to be told? Fantastic Heroes, Fantastic Journeys: An Exhibition of Student Mini Comics showcases a sliver of those journeys as told by CSU East Bay Narrative Illustration students.

Sequential art (aka comics and graphic novels) is a powerful artform that blends narrative and visual storytelling. No matter what form they take -  fiction, fantasy, journalism, memoir, political satire or poetry - they have the power to transport us to another world entirely.

This exhibit showcases Mini Comics created by the CSU East Bay 2025 ART 363 Narrative Illustration class. Themes range from memoir comics, autobio fiction, intergalactic fantasies, cyber mysteries, ghost stories, ancient cultural and speculative fiction.

Creators have used a variety of media in their work, including digital ink as well as traditional sumi ink, watercolor and gouache. All works are hand bound.
