Title: Letter jacket and vintage university flag

Description: Did you know that Cal State East Bay has had many different names? It was called State College for Alameda County when it was founded in 1957. Its name changed to California State College at Hayward in 1963 and we believe this letter jacket is from this time period, along with the flag that you can see behind it. Notice that our official colleges have not changed since our founding. In 1972, our name changed again to California State University and Colleges, Hayward and again in 1981 to California State University, Hayward. In 2005, we had our final name change to California State University, East Bay. (Display items and information from the Cal State University East Bay University Archives and Special Collections)
